D&AD Third Day - Volunteering

Third Day

Today at D&AD IT WAS a little QUIETER I ended up really enjoying my time here it hardly left like work and was super nice meeting people outside of my bubble. I met some nice people from shift today as well as getting to chat with Craig Oldham the only talker to actually speak to us on his way into the stage. His talk for me was super inspirational his emphasis on ideas and not kerning for me really rang true and made me feel a little less worried about not having a style/craft. His talk made me want to just explore things I am interested in without comparing it to what’s happening which is really difficult to be honest. When you can Instagram or Behance feeding you the ‘coolest’ work it’s hard not to be inspired by it but this is something I am going to keep track of. Hi Craig,

I met you yesterday at D&AD, the lad from Leeds art uni who's tutor is Alec. I really appreciated your talk yesterday, Its great to hear someone saying it how it is! Also, you successfully plugged your book because I found myself buying it this morning.

I wanted to ask if I and a friend could possibly come down to your studio for a visit and maybe shadow you for the day. It would be great to get a better insight of how you work and run things. We finish on the 14th of may so any day you might be free after this date would be completely awesome.

Cheers
Jon
