Looking back over the brief I am happy with my self branding reaching the correct audience. I feel It had been tailored well enough to appeal to a more branding styled studio over studios specialising is other aspects of design. Although I do feel my branding booklet its self has lots of room for improvement, one thing I would change is I would actually create a booklet and use the orginal drawings rather than scanning them in. I feel I have not fully limited myself however to just branding studios, this is more just a focus. The porfolio zine is more versatile, It can be used as a base for my work of choice which can attract a slightly wider audience. For example I could screen print onto the a3 side of the sheet this would appeal to printing studios. As I would like to apply for work experience at a printing studio this would work in my favour. I am happy to say my logo communicates a bit of me as an individual, the combination of minimal design and connotations to the outside are both things I feel represent me as a designer however on the other hand I do think more could be done to evolve the logo and again is not perfect. Id of like to produce some sort of stamp which had important information on such as a website etc however I did not have enough time and when deciding what was the most important aspects I decided on what was going to actually help me get some work experience. Within my spare time I plan to make a stamp still. At the beginning of this project I found it tedious and pointless but as it progressed I began to understand the importance of the module, and actually really enjoyed it in the end. I will defiantly be adding onto my current identity through my own personal projects which are important to me as a designer. Within the project many things went wrong but all for the great good, as I feel like I learnt alot from this project. One of the main being a greater understanding of the digital print room. As my two resolutions revolved around this heavily I was using the digital print room frequently. I learnt the best method to create a booklet with there equipment. I also learn how to create in design files correctly to work within there. However I still managed to print out multiple portfolio zines wrong. This was mainly down to proof checking, first it being an orphan then second it being the wrong way around. My first booklet was completely off with each page a different size. I fixed this however with the guillotine. I really enjoy the identity branding side to this project. Although I felt I did not have enough to on it specifcaly. Things id improve on are defiantly the branding booklet I was happy with it but there was so much more that could of been done with it if Id of had the time. Id of created a website also. On a whole this module as taught me to not be afraid of getting my work out there and that I need to begin to take advantage of social media something I currently do not use alot. Its also encouraged me to enhance my own pratice as a design away from college work, I will begin this with my sister hair dressing identity.

Logo & identity
I wanted my logo and identity to reflect a bit of me whilst still including aspects of my practice to come. The compass symbolises both my personal interests and my new career path. It relates to me personally because I enjoy being outside as this helps my practice by helping me relax and release some stress which more than often leads to creativity and new ideas. The compass also is to show the beginning of my journey within graphic design, as I have only just began it can be used to guide me through what lies ahead. My essentials identity photo shows my camera because photography is something I enjoy and try to use within my design. I wanted to incorporate parts of my photography within my identity using them as my covers. I feel they create much more engaging pieces than block colours. It has my diary which I used regularly to organise myself. As well as my field notes for additional note taking or quick idea drawing. I enjoy working with sharpy and pencil. The flask is a to show of my love for coffee and teas.
Presentation
For my presentation I used a simple 3 by 3 grid with a order of font then images, font then images. I kept it very simple to help myself. I used my self branding within each corner of the page to represent the compass element. North, east, south, west. The typeface throughout was piers sans, the same for the rest of my identity. I wrote this all down on paper to begin then putting it together slide by slide afterwards.
Photographing my identity essentials
From the basics that we had learnt from out photography lighting session we attempted to create our own studio with equipment from the college. This was because we couldn't actually get a studio in college. However we had an issue with the flashing of the lights, the infrared would not synce properly which meant we had to just use the lighting itself. The photo graphs white balance was very off so i just had to edit them in photoshop. Next time around I would prefer to photograph within the studio.

Portfolio zine Development
Here is a range of design decisions made after samples had been printed and the reviewed by me, John and peers after asking for feedback on the zine. One of the image I decided against, this was printed on the lower quality printers so it is arguable that it may of looked much better on the good printers however I wasn’t willing to risk this. I found that creative wanderer was to big and also out of line with the contact info, I moved this all to be aligned. I originally had a fade on the logo I took is off as it did nothing but but take away from my identity. shows that using gsm above 200 results in cracking of the ink, It also told me that I need to be using Proper folding processes rather than by hand. was another alignment issue hard to see but was well over. another alignment issue as the logo is not centred. the point size was to big so this was reduced to 12 point, also created a more consistent appearance. the additional image was unnecessary and removed on the final.
I was really pleased with how this came out although there are some mistake and I really do feel like there is something missing through the cv sections in a whole for my tester it was good. I learnt that I need to use a slightly thinner paper as thicker card ruins ink when folded. Feedback also showed some fonts where slightly to big and others where out of line. I have Eco paper and brown paper Eco paper fits into my personal identity where the brown paper bits into the theme of the zine I will be testing Both and maybe using the brown on the booklet also.

Final Zine
I was really pleased with how this came out although there are some mistake and I really do feel like there is something missing through the cv sections in a whole for my tester it was good. The main idea behind this portfolio zine was to have platform in which I apply for work experience plus other things. What is great about this is the full a3 side does not have to be restricted to ‘portfolio teaser’. For example if i wanted to apply for some work experience at a printing press, I could screen print a piece of my own work in place of this. Thus creating something bespoke to the area of design I’m applying for.
I will also use a behance for my portfolio work however I do think it is much more memorable if you receive something psychical. I personally really enjoy receiving things within the post especially if it is tailored to me. The whole piece is created with a modernist tone, grids are used throughout t create order. As it is an informative piece I felt it was best to keep it simple and readable by following rules. Portfolio Teasers breaks the rules slightly to create something which does not become dull by the end. Within the Cv I used two fonts one piers sans, as this is representative for my identity and the second was bobby. A hand written font, I used this because I wanted to keep to the theme of an adventure, piers throughout I felt was taking away from the design slightly. The font also fits in with my swirly path showcasing my time line. The use of circles through the cv are in relation to my logo and the idea of a compass.
Final 4 samples
Branding booklet
This is a project I have been working on for a long over the period of PPP. 0/30 branding this was my last aspect of self branding. I decided that I really wanted to use this to focus on my the specific area of design I was interested in getting some work experience for. So I created a project where I re brand or brand a project within 30 mins the project was solely devised to help me learn and increase my skills within branding. As It is a process I still have much to learn in. My interest in branding has come from a combination of aspects over the course one to note is maybe the alphabet talk. When I look at pre uni design work it nearly all revolves around branding. What I loved about this brief was having no pressure for the pieces to be top quality as it had to be done in such a short time. I think this helps me experiment more. It was a brief I set myself with the aim of both improving my branding practice and also using it to get a work experience placement of somekinda within the beautiful meme. I created this booklet to look as though it was a old sketch book infused with digital aspect, these digital aspects however have no order to them, this is done on purpose. I did this to create slightly more consistence throughout in terms of it being a sketch book. This however was defiantly a challenge and maybe if I had more time could be resolved to a higher standard. For example I was speaking to John and he told me about how a second year was using a spot within the book for her memory stick I thought this was a really nice idea. Issues I have with this booklet are as followed. The lack of consistency through various coloured pens and pencils etc, although this does give a nice feeling of it being a sketch book. I would much prefer ether all pencil or all pen not the mix of the two as pen comes out much bolder. I used the wrong typeface for my front page. The book was put together in a bad way due to me not actually knowing how it should be done, although this has now changed as I was shown how to properly do it next time. It is salvageable but is just a pain because of uneven edges.
The names for each brand are from the follow places. Debug was a random word generator online . Jam box was a book call calm which has a word game within . Enigma was a rebrand of a friends music collective. Lux was a project taken from a kick starter I saw . Ellie Jane is a personal identity for my sisters hairdressing business. . The idea I had behind debug was a indie games developer which specalised within rpg games. The actual logo for this however when I was in the digital print room Indesign could not find the font. My reason for not reprinting was because of price and also it was not a huge error. The Idea behind Jam box was a jam/chutney pop up store which opened within markets as a box store, they payed special attention to music within there identity playing it from speakers above. I decided on this because of the connotation with music and the word ‘jam’. engima was dnb, jungle collective which took pride in there vinyl use, this is why the type is within a box to represent a vinyle cover. Lux a premiun cable company for mobiles, The use of a thin type was to show elegance and strength with the 3 dots that represent as plug socket aswell as the letters l u x themselves in a ambiguous way. Final ellie jane is my sisters mobile hair dressing indetity. I wanted this to look proffesional but at the same time approachable. I feel the lowercase achieves this. The diamond dotted i really stands out as quality and the hairstylist type gives a super quick idenity for passers by. The term stylist instead of dresser also informs high quality.
