Josh Millgate interview taken lite

Final Piece

So after speaking to ed about issues I was having on 505 studio brief 1 poster, there was something he mentioned that stuck with me. He was giving advice on how he likes to find inspiration or influence one method was to take what has been said and make it literally. So when i was going through my interview one quote stood out to me the most. Mainly because I feel it rings very true and its something I have been trying to do much more of this year. Evidence of this would be projects in the dark room, having ago and spinning and now learning how to use the laser cutter. The quote was 'utilise everything in your environment as a student, use everything your university has to offer even if you dont know why you are doing it, go print something on the 3d printer, laser cut your logo into a block of wood and then break it into pieces just for the hell of it" So that is what I've done, i have utilised the equipment he have here. I spent all day learning how to use the laser cutter with the help of joe, i would now feel confident I could use this process in future work. This really helps my practice grow as I can start to think more outside of the pc.

Ive rented out a camera for filming and photo graphs at this moment in time the plan is to freeze the plastic and then smash in on the floor. I think i may keep the wood undamaged for legibility but if I can find an axe or something maybe I will video that.
